I, Jason Mtolela endorsing Liberatus Mwang'ombe for the Association of Tanzanian Community (ATC)
DMV president 2014
By the way,
I should be clear that I am an independent; I don't have any political
affiliation with any ideology. For more than a decade I have lived in DMV area,
but I never voted for any ATC president, this will be my first time to walk to
the ballot box to cast my vote. Our past community leaderships have been
characterized with serious corruption, failure to unity the community, using
community leadership to advance personal interests, failure to address the core
needs of the community, among the others. According to my survey, such
attitudes or behaviors of our leaders have been recipe for community disunity
and dysfunctional.
Recently, I
have been closely following our community campaign trail. I made up my mind
that decision not to cast my vote is not a good option at this time, as by
doing so is giving up on my own life and a bright future. As we all know as a
community, we all have an extraordinary stake at this election. So, I decided
that this time around I have to participate in our legitimate election for the
leadership of our community, which is an essential component for our progress,
not only over here in the DMV, but also back in our homeland.
As
aforementioned, I am an independent, and I don't have any intention whatsoever
to demean Idd Sandaly with his outgoing team. This leadership has failed to
achieve the main objectives of our community in many aspects. I will catalog a
handful of those failures: it failed to unity members of our community, if the
statistics indicating that there were less
than ten active members until the time of election is true, then the community
is in a serious situation, because, if such disunity continues unchecked will
lead to the collapse of ATC.
Unaccountability
on community funds is another failure. It doesn't make sense when the outgoing
leadership claims that it cannot disclose the ATC financial records. it should
be remembered that the leadership has been put in the office by the members,
who voted for it, and that they (members) have the right to have access to such
records. The question to every community member is: will I vote for someone who
is hiding financial records from the members?
Idd Sandaly
with his team failed to demonstrate transparency. Community members deserve more than what this
leadership has done. Many issues during this leadership were dealt with behind
closed doors. No adequate information were given to members. Such behavior led
to mistrust of the leadership. This atmosphere is not favorable for the
prosperity people are looking for.
We need
transformation in our community. The leadership is intended to be a vehicle
through which our dreams can be fulfilled. So, as voters, we need someone who
will be a trustful leader, uniting figure, transparent, visionary and one who
will address our needs not wants. This is Liberatus Mwang'ombe.
As we all
know, the society is dynamic, so we need a leader who will bring us together
for our collective objectives so we can chart a new course, and Libe has demonstrated that. He has ignited
the desire and passion people has been waiting for, for a long time. So many of
our fellow community members have great ideas, but have been shut outside by
our leaders. His policies are consistent with our needs; what we need is to use
our fundamental rights (vote) to propel him to the office.
Liberatus's
policies indicate that he will not only be responsible for our community here
in DMV, but to connect us to our homeland as well. He is a staunch advocate for
our National Constitutional amendments, that will facilitate our development
and our fellow Tanzanians. Libe has
unique leadership potentials; as a community we need to utilize him for our
development economically, socially and in other aspects.
I am asking
for our community brothers and sisters to vote for Libe, a transformational and
uniting figure.
Jason Mtolela
